Understanding is the first step to gaining an upper hand

The purpose of this site is to provide information to other athletes, trainers, and coaches about frequently under-recognized causes of chronic lower extremity pain caused by exercise, including Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome (CECS) and Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (fPAES).
The site was developed by a teenage athlete who had four surgeries over the course of two and a half years for both CECS and fPAES. In building the site, she consulted with Courtney Morgan, MD, Faculty, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health.
Focus will be given to understanding potential causes of chronic exertional lower leg pain, the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach in determining diagnosis and treatment options and the importance of patients advocating for themselves with their doctors.
The goal of the site is to empower athletes and their support network to make informed decisions that hopefully shortens the path from the onset of symptoms to their return to play.
